About the Artist: Sandra Poczobut

 

 
Sandra Poczobut is a mid career installation and performance artists based in Port Stanley, ON. She has a background in drawing, illustration and education and holds an interdisciplinary Masters Degree in Fine Arts Education and Curriculum Studies .

Poczobut has recently exhibited at The Elgin County Railway Museum, The Artist Project, World of Threads International Fiber Arts Festival,  and the Art Gallery of Mississauga.

Poczobut has previously worked as an instructor at OCADU, instructor/curriculum developer of the only Canadian program geared at Internationally Trained Architects at JVS Toronto, and has been an artist in resident at the art gallery of Mississauga. Currently, she works for Elgin County in the Department of Cultural Services as Manager of Programming and Community Development. There she utilizes her background in art and design thinking supporting cultural place making and is leading the development of Maker Spaces bring 3D printing and STEAM into rural environments through the Elgin County Library.

Poczobut utilizes as “service media” model for art development and production where public participation and community activation are key components of art engagement. Her works looks theoretically as issues relating to immigration, education, gender, class and culture.
